With radio staff changing stations as regularly as anybody changes jobs these days, it is not surprising that the listeners would know more about the station's history than the people who work there.
What do you know about your local station?
Who did you listen to?
Why did/do you listen to that station?
In our research on radio serials/series and the people involved in Australian radio, we have lagged a bit behind on our research in the stations themselves.
I still buy any books on radio station histories that I can find, but annecdotes from the listeners would also be good. Particularly loyal listeners who have followed the history of their local station for a large period of time.
Wherever I have lived, until now, I chose a local station and stuck to it In the last 25 years I have lived in the one City and I have split my listening between one station to wake up to, one in my car, my wife has a different one in her car and the kids have different ones again in their cars, but do not listen at any other time.
It seems listening to radio is changing, I know I listen less. No more modern night time radio for me.
